Dexter Season 5, Episode 1: "My Bad" Recap (Part 2)

Dexter clearly feels some level of guilt at what has happened, knowing that it is his fault for not killing Arthur sooner. However it does not present in the normal way that grief would in most people, leaving him rather adrift. Even the visions of his adopted father and mentor Harry, which normally serve as the closest thing he has to a conscience, seem to have abandoned him. Flashbacks to Dexter's very first date with Rita also show the depth of Dexter's guilt as he remembers the lies he told her right from the very beginning.

When Rita's children, Astor and Cody, return from Disneyland with their grandparents Dexter is forced to break the news to them. Dexter fumbles through it clumsily, even going so far as to resort to the "I'm sorry for your loss" line that the funeral home director had used on him. While most of the family dissolves into grief Astor turns to anger at Dexter.

She blames him for not being there to protect her mother and wishes that it had been him who had died. Dexter takes the notion that they would all be better off without him to heart and begins planning to disappear for good.

Meanwhile Debra goes to Dexter's house to clean up the crime scene, and Quinn comes along to help. Following the clean up Debra breaks down and quickly finds herself in the arms of Quinn and things get very physical very fast from there.

Debra seems to immediately regret it, and practically flees the house. This gives Quinn an excuse to talk to the neighbor who had been crying at the sight of Rita being carried out dead on a stretcher. The neighbor confides in Quinn about the kiss and also says that Dexter punched him over it. Quinn tries to relay this to Laguerta, who responds only with anger, not wanting to deal with this case at all.

Finally Dexter packs his boat with only the essentials, burns his storage container that had served as his killing office, and heads out. In doing so he misses his "interview" with the FBI and friends and family are left standing at Rita's funeral wondering if he will show up. When Dexter stops to fuel up his boat he encounters an aggressive and rather heartless man at the seemingly abandoned fueling station. Dexter follows him into the bathroom and in a fit of rage beats him to death with an anchor. Harry appears to Dexter once again saying that this was "the most human thing" that Dexter has done since Rita dies. - 40723

The Twisted And Difficult Film Movie Memento Reviewed

If you are reading into this article, than you are likely looking to learn a little more about one of the greatest films to be released in the year 2000, "Memento". This film has several different reasons for being as good as it was, and many of these will be discussed within this article, along with a detailed plot synopsis.

I suppose that the best way for you to learn anything at all about this film, would be to really take a brief overview of the plot synopsis so that you can best understand the sequence of events that allow this film's climactic points to even be possible. The only trouble with just reading or writing a plot synopsis for this film, is that it follows no feasible chronological order, and therefore it becomes difficult to describe the events of the film.

To salvage the description of the film itself through the plot synopsis, some of this information might seem as though it is following a pattern, but it likely will not be a pattern that you would see within the movie. Rather, this is simply to just make it easier on you to follow along, rather than following the film scene by scene.

There is a very good reason for this sporadic nature to the film, and it is because of the main character in the piece: Leonard Shelby. This man attempted years ago to stop two men from raping and killing his wife. He stopped one by killing him, and the other clubbed him across the head, giving him a condition known as anterograde amnesia, which does not allow him to make new memories.

He is rather taken advantage of in his condition, as several people have allowed him to do their dirty work, giving him ammunition in saying that they had something to do with the killing of his wife. Important information that he collects that is relative to the case is tattooed onto his body, so that he does not forget them.

He receives a phone call from what he believes to be a police officer named John, though he prefers to go by Teddy. He claims that he can take Leonard to the second killer, a drug dealing punk named Jimmy, so that he can exact his revenge. What the audience learns later, is that Jimmy had nothing to do with Lenny's wife. And Teddy feeds Lenny a story about having already found the other killer a year ago.

You meet a number of different folks throughout the story, and you aren't certain at first how they would play into the story if they even do at all. You do presumably learn (along with Leonard) who the second killer and rapist of his wife is. You get a front row seat to how he handles that situation. But this film might not have been so great, if it weren't for impressive performances by Guy Pearce (Lenny) and Joe Pantaliano (Teddy).

"Memento" can be hard to follow if you aren't paying very close attention to it. The film was likely as successful as it was given the nature of the title character's condition and how the events of the film played into the chaos that living without being able to make new memories would inspire. - 40723

Not matter what the combination, Knight & Day brings together two popular characters that compliment each other. They find a way to make it work and being so different appears to have it's benefits. There is a bit of a reluctant feeling in the beginning, but time, people and situations change that.

Being on the run is not an easy thing for the characters in the movie. No one wants to get caught, yet around every corner lurks someone who's waiting for them. They try to escape as they are being chased for possession of the item they have that the bad guys shown appear to want.

A love story begins during the movie that is comical and heartfelt. The one liners and references to moments they share reflect a relationship that grows over time. As they learn more about each other, they become closer and closer. It's a complicated issue filled with chase scenes, moments of truth and occasional unconsciousness.

As the drama unfolds, so do the stories behind the characters. You see the simplistic life that meets a complex one and learn that there's always more to the story that someone doesn't tell you. When they find out for themselves just who each person is, they get to know each other in a way that is more personal. It's moments of understanding that make them more intimate friends.

You might want to see this movie for the laughs you hope to get or for the action that appears to leave you on the edge of your seat. Maybe the popular characters are the main attraction.
